Desert Wreck by Deepblu742 Desert Wreck by Deepblu742
Inspired by a 70's sci-fi art book called SpaceWrecks by Stewart Cowley. Went for a fantastic vs. realistic approach. This one is Trek themed with Starfleet enviro suit and Danube class runabout.

That is spectacular!

Its getting the brain into gear, thinking about the dire situation that led to such a fate.

it's awesome, sad, great artwork. it does look like a solid earth marble breaking in the sky but that just adds a bit of surrealism. quiet somber death pieces, especially ones so personal, are rare in trek art.

Thanks, you're astute, as it was my feeling exactly, personal somber scenes are too rare in Trek art .

Well kudos to that, by golly. I can only say this was a philosophical reaction to Trek being a utopian style portrayal, that the grimmest problems are always resolved, the protagonists always triumph. The intent was not a gothic fixation on the macabre for its own sake but to give a more balanced realistic view to the fiction. In short: even in the best of times, sh*t happens.

Also reminds me of Def-Con 4's poster ( see [link] ), which was also based on Angus McKie's art (it HAD to be) from the book you mention. It wasn't a good movie by any stretch, but the poster sure enough made it seem interesting.

Great art though.

I'm not a die-hard Trek-fan, but I did enjoy a number of the series and, honestly, I find this kind of tragic as well as very open for interpretation if you know anything integral about the series.

Pardon me if I seem at all presumptuous my "dear", but I don't pickup/flirt with females on dA or on the internet period. I like my women in the flesh only, call me old fashioned but that's part of why I like 70's sci-fi art.
